An IMPORTANT tip By online all the time Okay, this will be brief and is being posted only as helpful hint rather than an indepth review. If your speeds are fine when directly connected to your ISP, but are slow or unstable when running through the RV082 try the following: Under the firewall tab, there is an MTU setting. You MUST take this off of Auto and use the manual setting. In my case the default manual setting of 1500 is what I needed. This solved the incredible slowdown problems I was having - in fact now I have the best speeds I have ever seen on my network. Thanks to "Lone Stranger" and the Google search in which I found his post for finally providing me with this answer after hours of frustration. No thanks to linksys email support, who was of no use at all. 22 of 24 people found the following review helpful. Definitely not ready for primetime By E. Chan With all the mediocre reviews here, I was hesitant in buying this router. I bought it anyway because it is the cheapest router around with dual WAN and load balancing. Despite some of the earlier review, I am happy to report that I found everything worked including VPN, firewall, 1 to 1 NAT. And, they all worked fine together with one exception (see below). But, I did find the router to be very unstable. In the last 2 months of operations, I have had to reset it at least a dozen times. In most cases, it either failed to route, assign DHCP addresses, connect VPN or the web interface failed to respond. And, it always requires a power down cold start. I am beginning to think the reset button on the front is for decoration only. In the past 3 years, my primary WAN has only failed a handful of times, what good is dual WAN if the router fails more than that in just 2 months. This doesn't include the hundred of times that I have to reset the unit during configuration. Sometimes, the unit's software will get itself into a knot after you save a configuration. It stills works (as a router) but some of the functions like NAT or VPN won't work correctly. This is very frustrating because you don't know if it is the software bug or wrong configuration. And, of course, there are the typical cases where the unit will completely freeze up after a config save. But, at least you can see it is dead and reset it.The most disappointing thing I found was the one thing I liked about the router, dual WAN. The router will only keep both WANs up if you have it in auto load balance mode. Otherwise, it will to shut down the 2nd WAN even in manual balance mode. A problem if you want to use the IP address on the 2nd WAN for incoming traffic. The other problem is that the VPN doesn't always work when it is in load balance mode but it works fine in single WAN backup mode.Bottom line, you get what you paid for and I will not buy this unit again. Definitely not worth the headache of having the whole office scream at you every other day because the Internet is down, again! 11 of 11 people found the following review helpful. Good small office router By Ogi Good small business router Strengths: Load balanced Internet connection options are great. Decent firewall. Weaknesses: VPN is a little complicated to connect to from xp/2000 Client. Have to play with the IPSec settings. I am using the RV042 and a RV082 to connect an office in the US with an office in East Europe. The VPN is working perfectly. - Excellent performance. - Very reliable. See all 31 customer reviews...

Cisco-Linksys WET200 Wireless-G Business Ethernet Bridge

The Linksys WET200 Wireless Bridge seamlessly bridges separate Ethernet networks together wirelessly and is ideal for small businesses with offices and resources that are in different office suites of a building or a closely adjacent building. The WET200 is a Power over Ethernet (PoE) end device so it can be installed anywhere an Ethernet cable can be run if there is not ready access to a power outlet. PoE enables delivery of both data and power to the WET200. An AC adapter is also included if the device installation site has a power outlet nearby.

Bring Nearby Networks Together. Bring separate Ethernet networks together—even if they're in different offices or nearby buildings. Formerly Linksys Business Series, now Cisco Small Business Wireless Access Points, the WET200 Wireless-G Business Ethernet Bridge uses Power over Ethernet (PoE) for ease of installation, even without proximity to an electrical outlet. Advanced security features include support for WEP, WPA, and WPA2 encryption using EAP (Extensible Authentication Protocol), which gives small businesses the protection they need to communicate and transfer data securely. The integrated quality-of-service (QoS) features provide consistent voice and video quality on both wired and wireless networks, enabling the deployment of business-quality voice over Internet Protocol and video applications.

I have it communicating with a Linksys WAP54G running WPA2-PSK to connect an "island" of wired computers to my main network wirelessly. The WET200 includes 5 10/100 ports, so you can connect several computers, a printer, etc. to your network. The WET200 passes NETBIOS traffic, so Windows file and print sharing work fine. The WET200 also passes DHCP traffic, so you don't have to assign static IP addresses to the devices you plug in. This is especially handy for me because I sometimes have guests who bring their laptops, but those laptops cannot get onto my wireless network (usually because they don't support WPA2). With the WET200, they can just plug in to an unused port and they are instantly on the network. The bridge features are quite advanced -- more than I need. It is a real learning bridge, not a dumb repeater. It supports VLANs, QoS, Spanning Tree protocol, etc. The good news is you don't have to worry about any of this if you don't need the advanced features. The WET200 comes configured from the factory with sensible defaults. Setup and installation was a breeze. I followed the quick set-up instructions and was up and running within a few minutes. At this price point, the WET200 is a steal. 12 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Works great, easy to set up (but read instructions carefully) By JohnK-Seattle-WA I've had this for several months now. It's worked really well with WPA encryption. I use it for Moxi, Tivo and Wii systems in my entertainment center, with the router 2 rooms away. I'm not using POE so I don't know how well that feature works. An important note that could save you some headaches: The instructions tell you to connect it to your *PC* using the included ethernet cable (not your home network). Make sure you set a static 192.168.1.x IP address on your PC, then connect the bridge directly to it (disconnecting your PC from your network temporarily). I made the dumb mistake of connecting the bridge to my home network and trying to configure it there. I was able to connect to it, but as soon as I set up the wireless, the wired connection was very erratic and it wouldn't connect wirelessly. I think the router freaked out trying to give out DHCP addresses to both connections. As soon as I realized what I'd done, I connected it directly to my PC and got it working within a few minutes. UPDATE 8/30/08: I've been using this bridge for about a year. 99.99% of the time it's worked great. I have noticed, however, that a few times (maybe once every 3-4 months or so) it seems to lose its connectivity (devices stop connecting and I can no longer connect to the bridge's admin page). A quick reboot by reconnecting the AC power cable always fixes it. 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Can't make it work, no support By David B. Black The descriptions of this product sound quite wonderful. It's the only one I could find that seemed to meet my needs. I followed the installation instructions exactly, and at the end, the product would get hung up in rebooting -- it would reboot forever, and only unfreeze when I held down the hardware reset button for 10 seconds. I searched for help on the Linksys site, and found none. Their live chat service doesn't support it. There was no troubleshooting information about it. The community forums were empty. They advertise a network troubleshooting product you can download, but it doesn't support the WET200. And no number to call that I could tease out of their site. So I'm stuck. I'd much rather make it work than return it, but Linksys isn't making it easy. It's true my other equipment isn't all Linksys (as they recommend), but it's all less than a year old, so a product of this kind shouldn't have a problem. I would feel less frustrated if they appeared to make an effort to support the product, but apparently even

Great Access Point By Gromit Read the directions and I was able to get this Access Point up and running as a Client in no more than 30 minutes, from set-up at my wired desktop to hooking it up to my Blu-Ray Player. There is nothing on the CD except the WA901ND User's Guide, I used the Web-Based Interface and this interface is even better than the TD-W8960N Modem/Wireless Router that I used to link to the Internet. The interface has most of the User Guide information in a separate pane on the right-hand side of the interface. The Client sync'd up with the Wireless Access Point without any issues and the AP is at the other end of the house and one floor down in the basement. A basic check with my iPod Touch shows full bars all over the house. I was elated to find that the WA901ND had a Bridge w/AP Mode (not listed in the features but is in the Users Guide), however this mode only supports WEP wireless security which makes it useless if you want a secure network. I had to default to Client Mode for my set-up. I wish Bridge w/AP Mode had WPA/WPA2 security like every other mode, maybe this will get fixed in a future Firmware Update. The three antennas are removable with RP-SMA Connectors so you can extend the antennas to a better position if needed. Runs warm but not hot, once I get some antenna extension cables it will be housed in my Home Automation Panel (metal box on the basement wall) and I do not expect any issues with over heating. You can refer to DSLReportsDOTcom, CompnetworkingDOTaboutDOTcom, or NetScribeDOTcom (search for Wireless Design) for a number of useful forums/articles on networking. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. A low cost N solution By R. Pierce Setting the system up you might as well throw away the manual, unless you are using the auto detect capability. Once you get through this the system is great, the Bandwidth is a huge increase over the 15Mbps devices and the range is really very good. For some reason I find that the apple products get better reception than others. The response or latency of the system is very good as I run my SONOS system through my android phone and IPOD so internet and network conductivity is very good. Great product poor manual. Up and running solid for 60 days no probelms. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Solid Trouble Free AP By Christopher Johnson This AP is quick to setup and reliable. Don't get your hopes up By johnk This router has a nice user interface with lots of features and DOES do client mode (wired to wireless to another router, for connecting non-wireless devices). The price is amazingly low. But that's where it ends. Despite the large antenna, this router struggles to connect to anything not in the same room. When I tried turning up the power (in the GUI), my laptop could no longer see any of my neighbor's AP's and had trouble connecting to my own router in the garage, even though it is on a different channel -- it was jamming everything nearby. I had a similar experience when I put it into repeater mode -- I couldn't connect to either one. The firmware has an issue too -- clients can't connect until it finishes connecting to the WAN. That includes clients trying to access the console. Which means if you configured the WAN wrong (or for client mode, the password was incorrect) you aren't going to be able to get into the console to fix it. Reset and start over. I thought about trying a firmware upgrade. But Alfa's site doesn't have this router listed. They have other 51 series -- iMesh 51, 51 "outdoor". I'm afraid I'll brick it. So if you need an AP in a hotel room this router is tiny for fitting into your luggage. That's all I'd recommend it for. UPDATE: the firmware defaults the transmission power (under Wireless 1) to 18dbm (out of 26 max). Lowering this to 6 or 8 gave me much better results (link quality 44 instead of 10) when connecting to another router downstairs. Maybe the device was jamming itself. I've upped my rating a star. Their "client" mode puts you on an isolated subnet. Much more like the client I am used to is bridge mode with WDS repeater enabled (but with second Wireless disabled; disable "Inherit AP settings") and DHCP disabled. If you configure LAN to be in the same IP address range you can access both routers without configuring your computer's subnet. See all 2 customer reviews...

By R H I wanted a low-cost VPN solution and had been debating purchasing the Cisco 501 PIX firewall and Netscreen's lowest end 5GT VPN router (which costs $450 + maintenance/support contracts) before discovering this bargain model. Tom's Networking Hardware has a good review about the RV082 holding up with Netscreen's 5GT VPN router in performance tests, which pretty much convinced me to get this Linksys brand. I use the RV082 for our main office and the RV042 as a client in our remote office in mainland China, so I can't say for sure that an RV042-RV042 solution works. Note: If you intend to purchase this model and use it for an international location, however, you do need to purchase a separate 220 volt/1000 mA/12 volt adapter, since the unit only comes with a 110 volt adapter. (Linksys apparently has yet to provide a universal power adapter for this product line.) I thought the RV042 would be exactly the same as the RV082 except with 4 ports instead of 8. However, I found that the firmware is still a bit behind the RV082 (the RV042 also does not come with an internal PPTP server, though this PPTP server is still not compatible with the Win2000/XP PPTP client). One major benefit of the RV082 is that it comes with a free VPN client called QuickVPN (downloadable in the same section where the RV082 firmware is located). Unlike other Linksys VPN routers, the RV082 using the QuickVPN client avoids the trouble of needing to follow a 16-page procedure for configuring a Win2000/XP client to access the VPN. The RV082 firmware (v1.1.6.3) contains an "HTTP Service" option that must be enabled to provide QuickVPN support. The QuickVPN client appears to retrieve some VPN server information through https:// requests, which isn't evident unless you look closely at the wget_error.txt located inside the C:\Program Files\Linksys\Linksys VPN Client directory. The RV042 firmware (1.3.1) does not yet support this feature, but their current BETA version (v1.3.3) does (downloaded from linksysinfo.org). Linksys has yet to officially release this firmware, so be forewarned! The RV units may also be compatible with other VPN brands. We had been using the really flaky Symantec 200 VPN units and managed to get one of the units to negotiate a IPSEC tunnel with the RV042 and RV082. You can use the VPN log feature to see if the negotiation works. Enable the keep-alive option in the Advanced features to help maintain a persistent tunnel too! Instructions for QuickVPN and setting up the RV042: 1. Upgrade to the latest firmware version (1.3.3 beta off Linksysinfo.org. Additional note: There are reports of problems with the the 1.3.6 beta so have stayed away from using it.) 2. Inside the "Firewall" section, enable the HTTPS service. Make sure to Save Settings too. 3. Inside the "VPN" section, click on the VPN Client Users. Add a username and password that will be used for the QuickVPN Client. Make sure the user that you will be using is selected as Active. 4. Make sure that your client's NAT/firewall has IPSEC passthrough capability turned-on. If you don't, you may see that the QuickVPN client successfully connects but freezes at "Verifying Network". 5. Your client's IP subnet should not conflict with the other remote networks (i.e. Your client subnet should be 192.168.2.0 if your remote networks use 192.168.0.0 or 192.168.1.0) 6. Verify that the IPSEC services is running on your Windows machine. 7. If you are running Windows XP SP2, you need to disable the Windows Firewall. You may also see the connection established but QuickVPN get stuck at the "Verifying Network" message. A good place to debug your problem is to look at the error logs in the wget_error.txt in the directory where the QuickVPN client is installed (i.e. C:\Program Files\Linksys). The wget program apparently tries to connect via HTTPS to the RV042/RV08 to obtain VPN server

Though I would never recommend that someone who knows nothing about configuring a router to try it on their own, this may be an exception. It has effective wizards and a remarkably user friendly interface that is accessed through your favorite web browser. The firewall seems to be effective, though my single complaint does come from that part of the device. I am yet to figure out how to shut it off when I would need to. . . But, it can be done. I share a DSL connection over this router. I also file share and print share through the device. It has done a great job at all of the above. I have recommended this product to countless people since I purchased it in September. epc 32 of 34 people found the following review helpful. good router--GREAT tech support By outrecuidance I bought the di604 because I wanted to be able to share broadband (cable modem) access with more than one computer. After having first bought an ethernet hub, thinking that was what I wanted, then returning it when I discovered that I needed a router, I picked the di604 based mostly on price and the customer reviews here. Set-up took just a minute, plug in the cords and you're done. The software is easy too, a web-based interface that the paper manual walks you through. It sounds like other customers had no problem at all with the software setup; for me, however, it didn't work at all. As soon as I finished the setup steps, I found I had gone from broadband on one machine to no internet at all on any machines.Needless to say, I called tech support. Needless to say, I waited on queue for a long time. But what makes me give this product five stars, after using it for less than a day, is the outstanding job that d-link tech support did. My problem turned out to be very odd and very difficult, and this guy patiently, politely and doggedly kept walking me through solutions until one worked perfectly. That alone sets the company apart in my opinion. Add the fact that the router works as advertised, and this was certainly a five-star shopping trip. The only caveat I would include is that I haven't yet figured out how to share files between my two computers. Clearly that's one of the router's intended functions, and other customers have said in their reviews that it works. I don't doubt that it's there and I'll figure it out sooner or later, but there are no specific instructions in the documentation for this functionality. Not enough to subtract a star from my rating, but if I find I just CAN'T figure it out, you can bet I'll be back here, writing another review with a couple fewer stars. All in all, I would heartily encourage anyone who wants to set up a home network or use their cable/dsl on more than one computer to choose this router. And it's cheap! 23 of 24 people found the following review helpful. Inexpensive and VERY feature packed. By Mark Thomas I did a lot of surfing of reviews here on Amazon to decide whether or not to get this Di-604. I decided... what the heck, some reviews are good and it's kinda cheap. I'll take a risk. Here's what I have to say about it: This router is unbelievably inexpensive and feature packed. It came nicely packaged with a STATIC BAG over the router, not some cheap plastic wrap. Every page of the manual is in NICE PRINTED COLOUR. I can't believe it. For a router this cheap you would expect they'd print their manual on toilet paper like other products I've bought. I think D-Link really set a goal for making the BEST 4-pt home router for the BEST price. I'm very picky about things, and before I bought this, I was fantasizing that maybe the router firmware programmers would add the option to select the WAN speed (10 or 100mbit), which I thought was just simply asking too much cause it's such a small detail many wouldn't care about. It turns out in one

Most helpful customer reviews 9 of 11 people found the following review helpful. This works great and is far less costly than many others (All others I've seen) By Christopher Hazlitt This is a wonderful little amplifier at a price much less than any other 2.4 GHz 1 watt output Wi-Fi RF amplifier I've been able to find anywhere, unless you order direct from China. I would recommend this amplifier to anyone. Thirteen milliwatts input power drives (5 to 13 mW input) this amplifier to a full 1 watt output and also has a receive pre-amplifier built into the same unit. The box also includes a small AC power supply cube for 120 VAC (converted to DC to power the amplifier) and has a coaxial RF jumper for the input too, good deal! I attached the included antenna directly to the output connector, this antenna has the proper reverse polarity connector to screw directly on to the output of the amplifier and a elbow swivel built into its base. If you have a 2.4 GHz Linksys wireless router which uses two antennas you might want to consider buying two of these amplifiers; one for each antenna, if my assumption is correct that one antenna is for transmit and the other for receive but I have not been able to confirm this yet. If this is the case and you buy two of them (which is not necessary) one will be receive only and the other the transmit amplifier. Again, you don't need to do this, just that if you did buy two of these due to the internal receive preamplifier you would have 10 dB gain on receive as well as the 5 dB antenna which added together is 15 dB of receive level gain. Also, you would then have two identical antennas which both have good gain so over all, I don't think that is a bad way to go but look to Note 4, below, to see a even better way of doing this using just one amplifier. If you decide to be more economically reasonable and buy just one amplifier for your Linksys wireless router you will need to have a reverse polarity male TNC adapter (male shell, female center pin, or rather, socket) to normal female SMA output. The RP TNC to normal female SMA adapter(s) is needed so you can hook up the Linksys routers RF connector(s) to the amplifier(s) using the included coaxial jumper(s) which comes with each of these RF amplifiers. Of course, two RP TNC adapters are needed if buying two amplifiers. The amplifier has a green LED which lights up when it is transmitting. If you buy just one RF amplifier and its green LED does not light when hooked up to one of the Linksys coaxial RF connectors move the amplifier to the other one to see if it will light up then. If the green LED does not light up (when the router is transmitting! It doesn't always transmit!) you are probably on the receive side, if my assumption is correct one is TX and one is RX. Note 1: Reverse polarity is simply that the center pin is reversed from normal, where there is normally a male pin there will be a female and vice versa. On this amplifier the input connector is a normal female SMA but the output RF connector which without close inspection appears to be a female SMA connector has a male pin coming out of the center. Note 2: This amplifier appears to auto sense when it has input drive to switch into transmit mode otherwise it is a receive preamplifier. If you have a wireless router which uses a single antenna for both receive and transmit and has from 5 to 13 milliwatts of output this amplifier will work for both receive as well as transmit. Note 3: I've seen this amplifier advertised elsewhere together with a Alfa high power output USB wireless modem which is a good deal but do not be confused over how they are used! Do NOT connect the output of the Alfa wireless modem through a coaxial jumper to the input of this amplifier! The 500 mW RF output of the Alfa wireless modem is far too much power to directly drive this amplifier and if hard connected to the amplifier through a piece of coax can blow out the input turning it into a paper weight and useless.

Most helpful customer reviews 183 of 189 people found the following review helpful. Way more than I expected! By Corey H. Perez Where to start... Well I'll open with.. I'm IMPRESSED! I opted to get the white version of the FI8918W just because it was cheaper than the black version and was identical other than the color. I was first concerned because I got two camera's and the first one was "loose" it seemed (camera from the base). The second seems to be identical so this must just be the way these camera's are. I hooked this up directly to my router as per the instructions and tried to determine a standard ip address without having to use the included software. I wasn't able to so then used the mini-disc on my windows 7 PC. The computer prompted for reboot which I did before I noticed the icon on the desktop. When it rebooted I double clicked the icon and after a brief moment it displayed the ip address of the camera. Note: I'm also using zone alarm and it requested access to 255.255.255.255:10000, which I allowed and it displayed the camera. When I double clicked the ip address displayed in the software window I was taken to ie which then I put in the user id: admin and for the PW. I don't know if I'm just lucky because I've had so many lessons with my other IP cameras, but this one was very easy (outside trying to figure out why the wireless config wasn't working as expected). One of the other things I was really impressed with was the ease of setting up the wireless. I "scanned" for wireless sources, found mine, clicked it and nearly all the fields were prefilled. I only had to input my security key. Now... The issue I had. I'm currently running 4 different cameras, x2 different Linksys camera's and a trendnet. Those all when setup kept their ip address. This Foscam uses a different one. So after you have it setup I'd recommend re-running their ip software and finding the new ip address after you have removed the cat5 cable. This took me about an hour to figure out. My camera background: I started out with x2 Linksys wvc54gca. These were my basis for learning about the IP camera's, the router work required to open the ports and more especially multiple camera's on the same router and how to accomplish that. After moving from the lower 48 to Alaska, we wanted a pan tilt zoom (PTZ) camera and opted for the Linksys WVC210. This camera is a very nice unit, but after getting the new Foscam night PTZ camera, I feel like I wasted a significant amount of money on this one unit, when I believe the Foscam FI8918W is easily a better buy. We also have the Trendnet tv-ip422w and compared to this new Foscam camera, the video is absolutely SUBPAR to the Foscam. While this is a review about the Foscam FI8918W I want the readers to know and appreciate what this camera does. The Linksys WVC54GCA works perfectly in IE and Firefox (Safari as well). The WVC210 will NOT, repeat NOT work with IE. There is an active X that is required and Cisco must have an issue with Microsoft or something because I cannot force my computer to accept the active X. You can ONLY view this in Fire Fox (FF) or Safari (if I remember correctly), but FF is what we use to view it. These Foscam's work in: IE8, FF and FF on Mac OS-X (Snow Leopard). I haven't tried Safari, but our needs were met in that realm. Mobile browsing: Both of the Linksys cam's were visible on our iPhone/iTouch. We have now ditched the iPhone (junk) and went with the Samsung captivate (android) and had the same experience. The Trendnet and Foscam units were not viewable on either of our phones. This was an initial HUGE issue, but I've found that on both the itunes and android app store there is an app (android has a free version, apple doesn't) called "IP Cam Viewer" by Robert Chou (android lite version works for free and has a banner at the top). If you use this program use "Add IP" in the settings to add your DNS address you established and go from there. This app also allows "swipe to pan"

Most helpful customer reviews 11 of 11 people found the following review helpful. I'm hard to please... WAP 200 really good product (4 of 5) By H. asHley I needed to wirelessly network a Brooklyn Brownstone approximately 45' long by 100 feet tall 4 floors. Initially started with the Netgear RANGEMAX WIRELESS ROUTER Netgear RangeMax Wireless Router (WPN824)because of the advertised (last year Sept) -MIMO (Multi-In, Multi-Out) technology boosts network performance with up to 10x the speed and 10x the coverage of Wireless-G Result: Signal traveled straight up to the upper floor without a problem, but could not reach the rooms from the middle to the front of the house 2nd ,3rd ,or 4th floors (Comcast cable modem placed on the second floor back). Mysteriously connections would drop without reason from time to time. Theory Comcast equipment was causing that problem, too, wireless phone and fax interference too being the possible gremlins. Phase 2-Linksys Wireless-G Range Expander WRE54G used 3 Linksys Wireless G Extenders to act as repeaters on the upper floors. Could only manage to get a strong signal partially to the second floor but signal was intermittent. Could only link two extenders but the second, again dropped the signal intermittently and the dreaded `limited or no connectivity' message began. Observation proved these messages materialized while roaming-connecting to the second or third node (first node being Netgear WPN824). Though the signal was seen (in some cases very good) Netgear had a time issuing IP addresses past the first node. Phase 3, after spending 1 whole day surfing the net for info. I decided to start anew....after much comparing and no reviews to go by. I decided on the Linksys WAP 200 because of its versatility and advertised signal strength - it could be an accesspoint, a repeater, or a bridge...and because I had the G extenders from Linksys that I became familiar with.... 200AP 2 Linsys WAP200 Setup 1- Continue the Netgear as the Ethernet to cable box, wireless access point, with DHCP server, using the 2 200's as repeaters. The main problem, after becoming familiar with the WAP200 was still the `Limited or no connectivity' message. I `trial and erred' the settings ,I observed a correlation between RIP and the error msg. I also noted the msg occurring much more on my older lap (XP home), vs my girl friends newer (XP) lap. Setup 2- using the Netgear as the DHCP server, Ethernet to cable box SWITCH. One of the 200's would account for a wireless access point (located on the second floor, 2 ft from the Netgear), the other a 200 a Repeater (3rd floor hall...I added a Hawking Technology's HAI15SC,Hawking HAI15SC 15dBi Hi-Gain Directional Corner Antenna 2.4GHz Hi-Gain Wireless Corner Antenna, boosts your wireless signal strength from 2dBi (standard) to 15dBi to the second floor 200...didn't think I needed it). This configuration covered the whole house, there were a few low signal readings at the extreme ends on the 4th floor 3ft from the front window , which I intended to eliminate with the Linksys G Extender. Which brings me to the only concern- AP Mode gives you the opportunity to use the 200 in either 1 of 3 modes AP Mode Screen Use this screen to configure the Access Point mode. The three available modes are Access Point, Wireless Repeater, and Wireless Bridge. The 200 that was used as the wireless access point needed the MAC address of the 200 used as a Repeater (in Repeater mode-- max 3 MAC addresses). Adding the address of the second wap200 (as Repeater) was'nt an issue, all worked perfectly. When I added the MAC addresses of the G Extenders `Limited connectivity' messages again appeared, I tried various combo's including changing the order but always a problem...perhaps the repeaters have to be legit repeaters or WAP200's...anywho I found this interesting and will be taking the 3 extenders back to Best Buy Conclusions- overall I found the Linksys WAP 200 a really good product. I don't believe you have

By Jerry Scoggins The unit is solidly built(steel enclosure), and works flawlessly like all my other Netgear switches. It's perfect for applications that need PoE to power Wireless access points, or for my purpose of powering and connecting a bunch of IP security cameras. A nice surprise was the price for this unit as it's much less than other PoE switches I looked into. In addition, having the two Gigabit connections were perfect for connecting it into my Gigabit backbone, and continuing the chain. I've yet to enable and configure CoS or other advanced features, but the UI seems straightforward. I'm not an IP expert, so this switch was a nice option rather than going to a managed switch. My only complaint with the unit is the fan is louder than I expected, noticeable loud in a room with a couple computers also running. All my other switches have been fanless, so I'm spoiled. In the end, I'd purchase another one. In fact I probably will real soon. 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. What a deal! By Paul G. Lucas I purchased two for our new Voice over IP phone system and I works great! Took it straight out of the box, plugged it in and it's been working like a charm. No configuration, just plug and play. Please keep in mind that only 12 of the 24 ports are POE ports. We saved $2,000 by purchasing this product over a simular Nortel switch. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. get's the job done! By Walter Wright Excellent product. Just a simple plug and play. Quickly found our POE devices (cameras) and instantly provided the correct power. We were very concerned that there would be enough power for each camera and there was. The power requirement was Class 3 which means it had to provide 15 watts of available power per each POE port. (We were advised that this is very important.) It was hard to find a POE switch that provided the correct amount of wattage budget we required. Most manufactures are a little bit secretive about revealing the total watt output for the POE ports. The Netgear switch was placed in a position after a DHCP router. And it handles our IP cameras great using just a Cat5. Also, manages the non-POE devices easily and interfaces with our larger ethernet switch. Some reviews said it was a bit noisy, but this is not obvious in our home run room. We have not used the gigabit ports. We think the unit is worth the extra expense. See all 11 customer reviews...

Great product, easy to use By Bryan I found this product while looking for a way to split the LAN at my job into two. We get one ethernet cord running to our desk and that's it. I was worried that my company would have some kind of block to not allow this to happen (they don't allow streaming video, audio, etc... so they block a lot of things). I found the unit on sell (about half price) and decided it was worth the price to try it. I tried it at home at first and it worked great (I have a router at home, so don't really need this at home, but just wanted to make sure it worked at home so if it didn't at the office, then I'd know it wasn't the device). I unplugged the ethernet from one computer, plugged this in and plugged in two computers. So, basically, there was one ethernet cord going from the router to the TRENDnet box and two computers branched off from there. Worked great - no set up needed, just plug-n-play. So, now for the big test: I took it to work. Worked with no big problems - same plug-n-play. The only thing is that when I plug my computer directly to the work LAN, it says the connection at 1 GBPS, but through this device, it shows up as 100 MBPS. I can't really tell any problems so far with speed - everything is working as normal, but now I have online access on both my work computer and my laptop. So, for me, this device works as advertised and meets my needs. PS - sorry for my non-technical review, but I'm no tech expert! PPS - don't forget you'll need an additional ethernet cord to make this connection. I didn't think of it at first, but luckily remembered before I finished my transaction and was able to pick up a cheap 3-footer. 66 of 67 people found the following review helpful. Perfect Size - Great Price - Great Function By PacketStorm This little 5 port switch is in my laptop computer bag at all times. There are plenty of situations I find myself in where there are several people who need Internet access but there is only one connection. Does anyone happen to have a switch? 9 times out of 10 the answer is "no." This switch has a great feature that I wasn't expecting to find on such a small, low-cost unit. It auto-uplinks to any other switches on the network - no crossover cables necessary. That's one less specialty cable required to carry around to ensure network connectivity. Good job TRENDnet! Otherwise there is nothing remarkable about this switch besides being small, light and does what network switches are supposed to do. After quite a bit of searching, this was the smallest switch I could find. At 3.1" x 3.9" x 1.2" it can't get much smaller! 71 of 74 people found the following review helpful. Light, compact and works great. By Stumpjumper Bottom line: Small, light weight and just works. Power brick is half the size of the unit itself and is also very light. I was looking for a portable network switch to keep in my backpack for occasions when I had a network drop but no wireless. Searching around I found this one and saw that the switch itself is small and light, but I was worried about the power brick. Turns out the brick is small too, so I'm very happy with my purchase. I've used the switch to network two Macs together and to connect multiple Macs to various network drops. The switch has always worked flawlessly. It doesn't care in which of the five ports you plug in the cables, it figures it all out and just works. According to my kitchen scale, the switch weighs just under 4 ounces and the power brick just under 3. See all 254 customer reviews...

The best customer reviews 12 of 12 people found this review helpful. Very happy with the price. By Curtis Gomez I can use this router in our core network of about 40 other permanent users of 20 or more users (customers) come and go. Any time you are trading 50-65 users via DHCP through four 24-port managed switches about ten centers in 4 to 8 ports and six WAP. Customers come and go every day, some of them with another Mac with a PC and I have to do something to connect to the Internet. In two years I have been in service is restarted once and I am not positive that was the problem, how do I reset the modem router and switches. Occasionally things off for maintenance, but looking at the router administration page has already run 54 days in a row. I must say that it is to attract much more stable than other small routers, delivering 99 DHCP addresses, but can actually about 10, without a static IP of His powerful browser interface lets you manage the bandwidth port, port function and provide easy port priority use. Some departments have more or less, or more priority to speed. Security Alerts by e-mail to me at the top of potential attacks. The effect on speed because of the security features was negligible. The "Block WAN request" even keeps our own ISP to see us. All these things are easy to install. As a basic router, it is very powerful. The courts will not I see is load balancing. That seems to really slow down the speed significantly. I think it's just too much to handle for the processor. My intention was to two different ISPs for redundancy in case. As a solution, I leave both providers connected but only activate one WAN port at a time. If one WAN goes down I can quickly activate the other WAN port without anyone really being affected The other ISP is mainly used for FTP anyway. On the problems with VPN's, we don't use them so I can't comment on that. In closing, you could spend thousands to get some of the features that facilitate subnets and load balancing, for the price it works very well. Update: I have since purchased a second RV016 (firmware 2.0.13) with the same solid performance. I've read about some of the problems that others are having and would say that compatibility with other vendors is an issue to consider. Also using switches versus hubs takes some of the load off the routers CPU. Update 2: We now own three routers without problem. I know that some have complained about customer service and I have to agree it's lacking. But what I would tell less experienced users is that the Sitemap column on the right side of the browser interface has extensive explanations of all the settings. This combined with a little experimentation should get you where you need to be The file sharing problems that another reviewer had has nothing to do with the router, it's all about the computer settings. Another reviewer commented on customer service asking about the color of the cables. In the early days of DSL and daisy chaining hubs, crossover cables were used and they were generally orange or yellow and will not work with most equipment. 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Mixed By Leonard Barshack I have had the RV016 for a few years. Overall I am somewhat mixed. My biggest disappointment is with Linksys support. I had trouble configuring the dual WAN capabilities, and never got any help from Linksys. In the end I am using a single WAN (see below). I would expect much better, or at least some, support for an expensive router like this one. Some applications got confused when I was using two WANs. I had this problem with 2 or 3 applications, so I suspect correcting it would be straightforward, but after HOURS of fiddling and calling Linksys help, I got nowhere The other surprise was that there is no way to be notified if one of the WANs goes down. I have dual connectivity for redundancy, but if one fails, there is no way to.

Most Helpful Customer Reviews 96 of 97 people found the following review helpful. Panasonic BL-C210A Network Camera purchased with Easy-G, this camera has one of the Amazon Gold Box coupons for $ 130 For the price, it's a great camera. This is my second Panasonic Network Camera. A few years ago I bought Panasonic BL-C1a Network Camera Model and PET Cam (BLC1A). BL-C210A is a much nicer camera. The picture is several times better, especially when movement is involved. You have the ability to pan and tilt, to look around. You can change the indicator on the camera you know the camera is turned off to allow. You can also disable or override privacy mode button on top of the camera. You can configure the camera so e-mail a picture when it detects movement in your home. Now how is this calm while you are away? And my favorite is that the camera via the network cable, eliminating the need for an outlet near the camera has power. The camera has a threaded hole for mounting on the back that can be used to mount the camera on a tripod a standard or optional wall mount design of the cube is good because it allows you to just put the camera on a shelf or table. The camera is light, then a tug on the cable network can bring it crashing down it is not safe. There are limitations with the camera. If you want to see an entire room, you will need to mount the camera in a corner. It can only pan 41 degrees left or right 10 degrees upward and 32 degrees down. The camera is connected via the cable network, but does not support the industry-standard PoE. Fortunately it comes with its own power injector. You need to buy two network cables to use this camera. A cable connects the camera to the power injector and the other connects the power injector to your router / switch. The cable between the camera and the power injector must be less than 98 feet. The box says you can only display static images from a cell phone. The website says you can't listen to audio with a cell phone I haven't tried either. The software works pretty good, although I have found a few minor bugs in it. You have the option of viewing multiple cameras on one screen, but the max resolution for multiple cameras is only 320x240 and not the 640x480 max camera resolution. You don't need a computer onsite to use the camera, but you'll need one to do the initial setup. Panasonic has nicer cameras than this model, but the prices also get outrageous. $185 (current Amazon price) is not bad for one camera. But after you buy one, you'll want more so you can monitor the rest of the house. That's when $185 per camera starts adding up. If the price drops again, I'll definitely buy another. Note: The zoom function is not obvious. There are buttons on the screen to do everything but zoom. I discovered you can right-click on the top half of the video to zoom in and right-click on the lower half to zoom out. You can also use the wheel on your mouse to zoom in and out Update (March 9, 2010): I did a little research on the camera model (BL-C111A) that the BL-C210A replaced. This camera has a larger CMOS sensor but the same resolution. The old model can pan 50 degrees to the left or right while this model can only pan 41 degrees. The old model can tilt down 40 degrees while this model can only tilt down 32 degrees. The old model had a 10x digital zoom while this model only has a 3x digital zoom. The digital zoom is not very good. If you have a need to zoom in on objects, you'll want a camera with an optical zoom. Some new features added are SSL data encryption for secure viewing over the Internet, power through the network cable, H.264 video compression, and the ability to operate the camera with some models of Panasonic flat screen TV's. I bought another camera from Amazon to monitor the back door and kitchen area. It comes with mounting holes on the back of the camera so you can slide it down on a couple of screw heads It frustrates me that you can't.

Frank 's best features of open-source router firmware enthusiast: - preamplifier built on Rx and Tx power amplifier. Note that it is not real MIMO as the name suggests, makes you believe, however, do amps "MIMO-like performance" (which I have found is true). - High-gain antenna - it has a better signal / noise ratio than the Linksys WRT54GL, which was the defacto standard - Support for "Afterburner" protocol (eg 125 Mbit / s) - Far from the Open Source firmware is supported, for example. OpenWRT, DD-WRT, Tomato, X-WRT, etc. And those enable it to have the most wonderful features, eg: - WMM for smooth VOIP calls using T-Mobile's UMA phones - WDS for creating a set of cascaded routers blanketing a large area - Adjusting the power output directly on the Atheros on-board chip - WPA2 with AES (WPA2 more secure than WPA, AES encryption scheme faster than TKIP), plus the ability to support mixed modes so that older devices that don't support WPA2/AES can use WPA/TKIP) - and so much more If you don't know about the merits of open source router firmware, you should read up! Challenges: - DD-WRT, OpenWrt, X-Wrt, Tomato or other open source firmware needs to be flashed with TFTP - you can't do it with the web GUI. But it's easy. Just requires timing the transfer as you switch it on. - Buffalo encrypts their firmware so if you screw it up and want to revert back to Buffalo firmware, you can't just upload it from the web gui of whatever firmware you've installed. You have to upload the decrypted version from DD-WRT's site, and then from there you can upload the latest Buffalo version from their website Note: because of the built-in power amp, you shouldn't just set the power output to jam out as much juice as it can. That will make the output signal distort and actually decrease the range. I found that the best S/N ratio is obtained at about 75 mW. (Default setting is 28 mW). 54 of 59 people found the following review helpful. This one's a keeper! By Kevin Nicholls After my trusty Netgear router died on me, I decided to "step up" and get a pre-N router. The experience was less than delightful. Then I decided to give the Linksys WRT54GX4 a try. It was okay for a little while, but started dropping connections like crazy after a week or so. Finally, after lots more research, I decided on the Buffalo and DD-WRT firmware. Talk about striking gold! My connection hasn't dropped in weeks, and the throughput is considerably better than most WAP's and wireless routers I've used I installed DD-WRT out of the box, so I can't really speak to the quality of the built-in firmware, but the hardware is excellent. I've pushed the signal power to the mid 100's and overclocked the processor, with no obvious signs of overheating. So while this doesn't have the heatsink that the lower-priced version has, I haven't noticed any heat issues. My only gripe is that the link lights for wired connections are above the ports in the back. That's great for a racked switch in a server room, but not so good for keeping an eye on things at home. Otherwise, I would have given this product a solid 5. 39 of 42 people found the following review helpful. Best Router Ever By S. Lancaster Due to security reasons, I wanted to update my 802.11b dlink network to the g network. After trying the every (and I mean every) 802.1 11g router on the market, I firmly decided on this Buffalo router and I couldn't be any happier! Linksys just wouldn't work with my Bellsouth DSL connection (even after trying PPOE settings), Netgear just did not perform adequately (range was very short and setting it up was a major ordeal) I would have been extremely satisfied with the Belkin routers (MIMO and not MIMO) since setting them up was a breeze and the easiest setup on the market today, but again range was an issue (I couldn't get past 50 feet in my house). The Buffalo router was everything I.
