Work in extreme CB I bought two of these devices to Wi-Fi setup for a mountain condominium building (three floors of the five units). Both units mounted on the opposite side of the building at the top (3) floors. Installation is relatively easy (maybe not, if a beginner). The only time I had a question for TRENDnet (before buying), was his answer quickly and help. The units are connected to a DSL modem / router. Since we can only get 7MB DSL service points that have limited access to 11b. So I can not comment on higher speeds. To date, all units reporting a good service. These units are hard to beat for the price. Not as powerful as the units of Cisco, but you can buy two (or more) for the same price. NOTE: The units are installed about 5 months in a residential building in the mountains in Colorado to about 9000 meters. The units are installed outdoors. Temperature range during that time, 85 to -20 F. So far, so good. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful So far so good By J. Wu Our outdoor wireless network currently covers approximately 1000 meters, with buildings and walls in the middle, and while our current access point to the outside (the D-Link DWL-7700AP PoE 5dBi a/802.11g 802.11 54Mbps Wireless Access Point outdoor works well, it just can not get to the end of our network. Recently added this Trendnet wireless access point as a wireless repeater and our range has increased substantially (from 30% signal for more 90% on certain points.) installation is easy if you have experience with static IP addresses. I do not use the supplied CD, but to read about all the features of this device. I docked a star because the manual does not seem incomplete - certain sections such as when he talks about the different modes (access point, wireless repeater, etc.) are very short and seems to assume that the user knows that a good amount of background information. As with the D-Link 7700AP, power and Ethernet port are at the bottom of the device, making it difficult to argue this in a table if you do not want to mount it on a wall or pole access point management software is easy to use, but the point fairly standard for outdoor access. Our current network uses a Linksys WRT160N Ultra RangePlus Broadband Router Wireless-N D-Link DWL-7700AP PoE 5dBi 802.11a/802.11g 54Mbps Wireless Access Point This outdoor access point Trendnet. Stability is good - no need to return so far in two weeks of testing. Pros: Works out of the box, easy installation, all-metal, manual written in understandable English. What is interesting is that this access point comes with a pole / wall that can rotate up / down or left / right (depending on how to install it), so it is easier to identify the wireless signal in a particular direction. Pros: Price, 9 dBi seems "high power" borderline, there is an Ethernet cable. As with many products from TRENDnet, which you really do not know what accessories you might need to purchase the item and read the manual, for example, if you think to put Trendnet 14 or 19dbi antenna into the device, you must possibly their outdoor kit lens and N-type cable. 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. Nice work, but more than expected by Chooch ft I bought a pair of the latter term ~ 400 open space between buildings (FYI: WDS is used to connect two units). Open Space is forested (of dozens of large trees), but I can get the direct line of sight between the devices. The goal is to remove the cable modem into the building with a spacing (ROI is only a few months), while at the same time, so that all computers on the LAN, can I share NAS backups, media stream, Printers, etc. Advantages: FAST! I get> 18Mbps Downloads Link (speakeasy.net with the performance test) - that about the same speed I get from PC on the wired part of the network. Price - hard to find similar tools in this price range well designed and includes everything needed to mount them.

Cisco WAP2000 Wireless-G Access Point - POE

The WAP2000 is a Wireless Access Point ideal for small businesses that want to expand their existing wired networks or create new wireless networks for the workforce or guests. It features RangeBooster technology that is compatible to standard 802.11g but with a range up to two times farther and throughput by up to 35 faster. Unlike ordinary wireless technologies that are hampered by wireless signals that reflect off walls, ceilings, and other objects, RangeBooster uses these multiple signals with two smart receivers at each end (router or access point and client adapter) to boost range and throughput speeds. As a result, a RangeBooster solution reduces or eliminates wireless signal deadspots in offices and other buildings so users can connect to the network in more areas. The WAP2000 comes with 3 dBi antennas for increased power, also helping to extend the range of the Access Point.

Merryman, that I have purchased this product to provide secure wireless services to our corporate network. I was pleasantly surprised that there is support for multiple SSIDs with VLAN support (useful for creating a "guest" network for the visitors, and its own internal network). It supports the WPA2-Enterprise, which I use in conjunction with Windows Server 2003 IAS, so users of the domain on the network with their Windows login automatically authenticated. I was totally expecting problems using this feature bleading small margin, but it has been perfect (except for the hassles associated with Microsoft's support for the moderate faction WPA2 on XP Pro) are working. The unit never requires a reboot, since I installed it. The physical hardware is well done too. I do not use POE support, because the range of this AP is good enough to allow him to sit in the hall phone and cover the entire complex plane, this product feels like it's been beneficial influence Cisco, unlike some Linksys' other recent efforts . 4 of 4 people found this review helpful. Linksys 2 Satisfaction with Craig Hendricks I had a home office and a Linksys WRT54G. I wanted to protect my network more and more LAN ports, but still have wifi. So I bought this AP, a Linksys VPN router, firewall, and an 8-port switch. He was the AP, switch my printer connected to the VPN router and NAS, and my computer to switch. He worked flawlessy. This baby has serious reach. I would go get mail (our road is about 1 / 4 miles, and my iPhone will still be connected to wifi this thing puts out. Furthermore, it is much safer than a normal 4 port wireless router. You can be assigned to 'IP to it, which will be the gateway for connected devices. Safe and cool technically challenged. But easy for you as you use it. 1 of 2 people found this review helpful. Easy Set-up by JJC WAPs This was very easy to install and has performed great. Manual in the box on a CD. Through Integrity Electronics USA, this new WAP Cisco / Linksys is smaller and easier to install than previous models, and is a good price for a dual-band B / G / N WAP. The series seems pretty good too, but we have found that can make a huge difference in tone, depending on the quality of the internal wireless antennas in some laptops and netbooks. For example, the home of one of our customers: Her new PC notebook and laptop had "good" reception (3 of 5 bars), while my Apple MacBookPro had "excellent" reception from the same place. WAP was a lot of broadcast signal. Her two computers simply could not receive signals, due to poor internal wireless antennas. So if you buy this product, and the field looks weak, not the WAP. Also make sure you choose "Wireless-N Only" mode, if all your computers newer 802.11n cards. This will speed up your connection if you do not have N cards, and then leave the scene in "mixed" mode, otherwise your card B and G do not get any signal. Hope this helps. Privacy Electronics USA November 11 people found this review helpful. Do not buy this item (WAP610N) By Charles Orton I bought a pair of these access points to customers based on WAP610N Linksys / Cisco's reputation. I made the mistake of not checking the Linksys support forums first. Big mistake. This product with the current firmware (from 12/01/2011) simply do not work as advertised. There are many documented problems with connections, starting under load, inability to pass packets correctly DHCP and static IP address 10.xxx range that allows me to give a positive recommendation for this product. Cisco and Linksys should be ashamed for releasing a defective product. Call them on the phone is a complete waste of time and posting in their online support forum (along with the other unfortunate WAP610N owner) is also meaningless, because Cisco / Linksys does not recognize the problems (but they are quick to edit their posts, if you see something that they did not like) why I say no other option than to return WAP610N units for refunds and make others aware of the potential problems with this device. The latest firmware for this device was about 9 months in March 2010 published. Linksys - I have learned my lesson. No more Linksys or Cisco equipment for my business or my customers. Thank you. 11 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Large Dual Band WAP. (It is not a simultaneous dual-band WAP itself) By cpyao I have configured this as a 2.4-GHz Wireless-G Access Point with me. It works great, I have no problems with it. The only disadvantage of this WAP610N (and their WET610N) is that it's time for you to reboot after making changes to the settings and save them, but not that big of an issue very much, I thought it was a simultaneous dual band ( 2.4 Ghz and 5Ghz) as the WRT610N, but it is not. It is one or, I suppose I should read the specifications a bit 'better, but I still would have bought anyway. I think they did that for some reason since I just bought a second today, so I can run it as an access point 5 GHz Wireless-N. I only use it for a week but I had no problem with it at all, is a great WAP. See all 39 customer reviews ....

Corning, this could easily be a 5-star product with some minor improvements to documentation and configuration screens. Pros: Great wireless range * Compact design * relatively quick re-boots as it is configured Cons: * The documentation is very limited for many people to set it up without an aid application configuration * has no instructions supported by other manufacturers (Netgear) A bit expensive - the performance, but makes up for it I use a Linksys router on my home network, which has a default IP of 192.168.1.1. The DAP-2553 uses a default IP of 192.168.0.50, so I need to change your IP to 192.168.1.x which used to work, and documentation about the package does not say how. Fortunately, excellent product support from D-Link got me started in minutes, without grating on me the serial number on the product or when I bought (support from Netgear is a pain) If you put one of these networks on a Linksys, this is what you do: * Connect the DAP-2553 directly to a computer via the supplied Ethernet cable (with Wi-Fi computer is off) * manually set the IP address of your computer to 192.168.0.54 (Go to Control Panel | Network |. Settings tab Edit, then right-click Local Area Connection and select Properties Select Internet Protocol 4, then Properties, then use the following IP address Put in the IP, subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and gateway leave standard in September to 192.168.0.50 to reach DAP 2553). Press OK. * Open a browser and point it to 192.168.0.50 * Log in using the DAP-2553 is equipped login information and go to Basic Settings | LAN IP address to 192.168.1.5 Set * 50 (is on the map of your Linksys router) * Set the default gateway address of the Linksys router - probably 192168.1.1 Select * Apply * Do not forget to re-set the IP address of your computer to DHCP, or whatever it was before (if using DHCP - Go to Control Panel |. Network | Edit Settings tab, then right-click Local Area Connection and select Properties Select Internet Protocol 4, then Properties, then click Obtain an IP address). Click OK. * Disconnect the DAP-2553 from the computer and connect the DAP-2553 in your network. * If it works, you should now find the DAP-2553 to 192.168.1.50 and be able to complete the wireless configuration to your preference. * Rejoice. Warnings standards. Good luck. 23 of 24 people found this review helpful. Great Bargin AP POE in GMW have a home of 4000 square feet, and had many problems with 2.4 GHz Once I ran into my house with Cat6 outlets all over my current phone, I really needed a 5GHz access point, which can be powered over Ethernet (POE) and was not too expensive I looked at Cisco, but for $ 800, too. I got two of them for $ 300 Dlink. I must say, the features and performance, this is a great product. Now I'm using 802.11n in my house on the 5GHz band, and it works perfectly. I have an AP in the basement and the other is in my room. By having two devices, which can be anywhere in my house and my porch and always have a strong signal. The easy to use web interface only took me 15 minutes to configure both devices. Easy management with built-in QoS and WPA2 security. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs only the function of one or more AP without the use of having a router as well. Dec. 12 people found this review helpful. Edwards, I read previous reviews, but went ahead and bought it on the advice of a friend of wireless networks intalls for life and he used this access lot. I am completely satisfied with this Linksys product. If you plan to use it for what it is meant, an access point, and no terms have something more, it chugs right along. I ran CAT 6 cabling, (note 300 meters total length) and use the AC adapter to power the device. It is running a Linksys Wireless-N router and a 5-drive Linksys Workgroup Hub. I mounted in the bottom layer closet behind my TV room and turned on my laptop, it found and connected. I then went to the Web-based configuration utility and configured for my taste, (WPA2 security on my wireless router game) and I work like a charm. I am writing this review on my laptop in my bedroom where my router upstairs alone could never reach I now have a full service bar complete with the entire property, inside and out. This is exactly what was needed. 14 of 15 people found this review helpful. David Mersch excellent product I purchased this WAP About two months ago and it worked perfectly. It was easy to install and configure, I'm not sure what the problem with other users. Actually I almost did not buy this product because of the amount of negative reviews. I've always had great performance with the Linksys, so I thought I'd give it a try too. If you have a basic knowledge of wireless networks and can follow simple instructions, this product is for you. Otherwise, you probably need to hire a technician for every product purchased. Do not denigrate an excellent product. Buy with confidence. 12 of 13 people found this review helpful. One of the more stable access Tiny Bear Why I do not know why other people have problems with this access point with the latest firmware (as of 06/2008) access points are stable and running for many months without crashing. I have it on a 7 100 square foot warehouse with AP is suspended from the ceiling cover. No power needed to run each access point, because they are all Power over Ethernet - which just had a Power over Ethernet switch and get a standard ethernet drop for each access point to perform. I went back to the store two months later and all access had an uptime of 61 days - not a single dropped. I've decided that each of them to reboot, just in case, but they were all working, responding, and providing a wireless signal, after 2 months. I was actually a little shocked, so I thought one would have crashed. The good thing is, since I had to have Power over Ethernet remove one by one, each of our power over Ethernet switch - no running around, I thought two months of being in a warehouse stbale hot during the summer for all seven access points is an excellent test of stability. The best thing is that all actions of the AP the same SSID and password and I can not go from one end of the warehouse to another when you download a file and without losing a single table. I had to plan the configuration of the wireless channel in advance and tried to minimize interference with others. Remember that there are only three distinct channels, 1, 6 and 11, and then try to place your access point to obtain the least amount of conflict. There is a serious problem with the 802.11g standard, where each channel overlapping channels -3 + channels - so an access point on channel 3 in conflict with the channels 1 and 6. Novelle - only 1, 6 and 11 for your Wi-Fi channels in each case with the right configuration and the latest firmware, everything is running stable and has tremendous reach. I get a good signal to all Access Points at 200 meters apart. Each access point.

Finally, only one access point DH finally only access point that has all the features usually seen in units 3 times the cost of a very elegant package, that can be placed where most needed at home or office. Mine is in the hallway of the house and nothing draws attention to the smoke detector. I will recommend and install this, for both residential and commercial customers in the future. October 09 people found this review helpful. Much of what I was looking for Ted Hajduk The AP has it all - 802.11n/a/b/g, Power over Ethernet, decent user interface, good configuration flexibility, everything you could want. I found this article when I searched Amazon for a Power over Ethernet AP. I wanted to finally install an AP in a permanent place in my house (instead of hanging in my office), but did not want the hassle of having to run both a supply line and an Ethernet cable to the device just to be clear, the PoE (Power over Ethernet) allows you to use a single cable (Ethernet cable) is the power of the device and the network connection to the device. The power of direct current is low power (less than 20 watts), also "... must be obeyed" had some "concern" about the appearance of a cap AP and how it could conflict with the setting ( multiple antennas hanging like a big black spider). I also wanted a device that a network engineer (20 + years of experience) I do not think a toy. This device has exceeded my expectations. First (and most important - after all, must be obeyed) clean and tidy appearance - a white cylinder, a little thicker than a smoke detector - the antennas were all inside the unit, nothing to hang When you have set the device on the desktop (I have to start somewhere), we went. I crawled into my laptop and checked the stairs NetStumbler - signal strength was-20dB - took him outside and walked 200 'away from my property line and still have-45dB (good - I was impressed). NetStumbler fell and launched Firefox and was fast . After the reception and ask the basic elements that I use (no SSID broadcast, MAC address filtering, WPA2, PSK, etc, etc) - was simple, intuitive interface where all (well, okay, I admit - an intuitive network engineer - I know not how not knowing what I know and see the screens as "average" is - if you have any problems, ask the IT geek in your circle of friends for help and cook a dish biscuits). The best part was the last physical installation! Since the coverage was so good I could my original plans to put it on the first install drop ceiling, floor (hole between the floors, run power and Ethernet, large mounting surface for the transformer, etc.) and instead chose the second floor ceiling - very close the "laundry room" (where my cable modem, router, firewall, telephone punch-down blocks, etc.). I have drilled a hole in the ceiling in utility room (the attic), and another in the ceiling on the second floor atrium. I have cut the mounting plate around the hole 2 (lightweight plastic plugs and screws provided), ran the CAT5 cable between the holes plugged the cable into the AP and the push-twist (bayonet connectors think) and is mounted! Back to the pantry - the other end to the PoE injector Trendnet (I had to buy separately), connect the power injector on the ruler and put the cable (I was previously using on my desk) to the gun - Since that time I was ready - no problem. Going on without any intervention for about four months. We have three laptops and a Windows XP laptop Windows 7 - we had a number of simultaneous active sessions streaming video at the same time without problems. The AP looks good when you kick (I'm sure the card guide assembly so blue 3.

The goal was to my brother-in-law to help cover their large home with a good quality radio. Based on my experience making facilities WAP, I think it would take between three and six WAPs full coverage of your big house (which has a lot of brick and steel) with good coverage. I was impressed that strategic positioning of the units I was able to cover the whole house with just two of the WAPs. The cover consisted of three floors (one of them was a finished basement). The installation of these units was simple, the firmware is stable, and the configuration went straight = forward. Because they were setup worked perfectly and requires no further attention. All a bit unusual (for the used to Netgear, Linksys, etc) ) If you need a Cisco account (no fee to register online only) to the firmware, etc. This ultimately need to install because the drive firmware is up to date. If you're looking really good WAPs that Wireless-N support and many of the institutions (eg, mesh, multiple SSID, etc.) I recommend this device. It has a slightly higher price than others (consumer units), you can buy, but it certainly deserves the "business class" label, that Cisco offers. 16 of 17 people found the following review helpful. WAP4410 drive diligent review of the capo 2 WAP4410 I just installed a Linksys RVS4000 router and put them in a basic configuration the system just to run. I will trim the configuration in the coming weeks and will report the results. Out of the box, worked as advertised units with zero hassles. I upgraded the firmware, change the administrator password, assigns two static IP addresses and resolve the host name to allow roaming that has worked well so far I have SSID broadcast initially allowed to be easier to find the setting, but I neutralize the time. So far (anecdotal), the speed seems good, and access points have had no problems with a mixture of a / b / g / n devices. I have no plans to enable PoE, as there are known problems with the link speed drop to 100 Mb / s. So far, so good. It has now been one month and allowed me a second guest SSID and set to have links with a number of different devices (adapter for Xbox360 games WGA600N, WET610N printer without any problem). The performance and range were excellent. No problems with the VLAN or QoS functions for transmission. In the final analysis, a bit expensive, but an excellent product. 5 stars. 15 of 17 people found this review helpful. very reliable, fast, wireless access point D. Boontheekul After being fed with the problems I had with my build and purchase a variety of AP, I decided to spend some "more and try this mode is quite reliable. I use the qualifier" somewhat "because I had a problem or two but I can not be sure that there was a neighbor to create a new AP on the same channel, or something. Otherwise it's been almost a solid year's service. I appreciate that support IPv6 out of the box, even in the management interface. It has much more control over an AP regular consumer with things such as VLAN support, and pretends to be multiple access points with different SSID, etc. Another thing is that it becomes increasingly difficult to find a decent single access point access point access. As regards consumption, all seem to be the wireless router now. I just wanted a firewall and an AP. This fits the bill well. Another item I use now, but could later be PoE.
