Superb By Tom Hearn I had tried consumer products BestBuy, Walmart etc and never could achieve the performance I needed.D-Link professional products really did the job and their tech support is the finest I have ever used. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Airpremier N Selectable Dual Band Ap Poe By George O'Bryant Nice and solid device good signal range. A little touchy, will not broadcast after power loss or changes. I had to reconfigure it several times. once it's working it good to go. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. This is a very robust AP for any business-class upgrade By Marvin Lee Jr. D-Link makes several Airpremier AP devices. This one costs less because it runs on a slightly non-standard power device. The POE feature may be difficult to implement in some wiring closets because the device draws too much current. As long as you are able to utilize the little 2.5+ AMP power brick, you'll have zero problems setting up a powerful wireless network. The firmware on the several units I bought were all up-to-date, an unexpected pleasure. You can deploy the unit by simply resting it on a desktop or shelf, but you can get better signal penetration sometimes if you mount the chassis on a wall or beam higher up in the air. Programming is via a browser interface. The software appears to be a form of Linux. I've deployed several of these with great results. This type of AP is vastly superior to those "toys" that you buy for fifty bucks. If your needs are more serious, you can't go wrong with one of these. The construction quality of the plenum rated metal chassis, painted in a beautiful dark gray metallic finish, is fantastic. Almost as fantastic as Amazon's fast order fulfillment! The machine comes packed in a plain brown box that's folded internally to hold the components, and be ultra strong. It includes a strong wall mounting bracket with versatile hardware for vertical mounting ease. IMPORTANT setup note: Even D-Link's website implies that this device can support a "guest" network as in the Apple Airport Extreme N router/AP. This is not entirely true. OUT OF THE BOX this is not possible. You'd have to have an enterprise class AP control system on your premises that supports creation and management of Virtual LANs. So if you have a small office in need of a guest network for your visitors, better to look elsewhere. Otherwise, you'd need to buy a pair of these great APs to do this nifty trick! Or get an Airport Extreme and hope it survives industrial use. (Personally I'd invest in TWO Air Premiers.) See all 4 customer reviews...
